In LA for the day? Come up the foothills.

Toasted is in Montrose — a small foothill neighborhood ten minutes north of Glendale and forty minutes from the Pacific. We're not on most LA tourist itineraries, which is part of the appeal: independent shops, dog-friendly patios, no chains, and a tight food street most visitors never find. Below: drive times, three half-day itineraries, and the practical stuff.

Drive Times to Toasted

LAX (Los Angeles International): ~30–45 min by car — I-405 → I-5 → CA-2 north. Worst at 4–7 PM weekdays.
BUR (Hollywood Burbank Airport): ~15 min by car — Closest airport. CA-134 east → CA-2 north.
Downtown LA: ~25 min — I-5 north or CA-2 north. Off-peak both work.
Pasadena (Old Town): ~15 min — 210 west to 2 north.
Glendale (Americana): ~12 min — CA-2 north straight up.
Hollywood / WeHo: ~25 min — CA-101 → CA-134 → CA-2 north.

Free street parking on Honolulu Ave + a city lot one block away (~40 spaces). No need to pay for a garage.

Three Itineraries

Foothill Brunch + Garden

Half day, 9 AM – 1 PM

·9:00 AM — Toast Tower + Armenian coffee at Toasted (allow ~75 min — Towers are dine-in only and the experience is the point).
·10:30 AM — Walk Honolulu Avenue. Independent boutiques, Saturday farmers market (Sundays only), no chains. ~30 min.
·11:15 AM — Drive 5 min to Descanso Gardens (1418 Descanso Dr, La Cañada Flintridge). 150 acres, oaks, camellias, Japanese garden. Worth 90 min minimum.
·12:45 PM — Late lunch back on Honolulu, or head to Pasadena (15 min) for dinner.

Coffee Crawl + JPL

Half day, 8 AM – 12 PM

·8:00 AM — Espresso flight at Toasted (Stumptown Hairbender, four small pours, $17). Best on weekday mornings when the bar is calmest.
·9:00 AM — Drive 12 min to JPL (NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory). Public tours by reservation only — book 1–2 months ahead at jpl.nasa.gov/events/tours.
·11:00 AM — Loop back through La Cañada / Pasadena for a second coffee or a hike at Cherry Canyon Trail (Tujunga Glen).

Glendale Arts + Foothill Dinner

Full day, 11 AM – 9 PM

·11:00 AM — Brunch at Toasted (avocado toast, breakfast sandwich, or Saffron & Rose Tower for the table).
·12:30 PM — Drive 12 min to Glendale: The Museum of Neon Art (MONA), Brand Library, or the Americana for shopping.
·5:00 PM — Drive back up to Montrose for golden-hour walking on Honolulu Avenue.
·7:00 PM — Dinner on Honolulu (multiple independent restaurants within 200 ft of Toasted).
·8:30 PM — Late dessert + coffee back at Toasted (Fri / Sat / Sun only — we close 8 PM weekends, 4 PM weekdays).

Practical Notes

·Hours: Mon–Thu 8 AM–4 PM · Fri–Sun 8 AM–8 PM. If you're only here weekday afternoon, plan your tower for breakfast.
·Walk-in: No reservations needed. Parties of 6+ on Fri–Sun: please call ahead at (818) 330-9350.
·Towers are dine-in only. They don't survive a to-go box. Plan ~75 min for the full Tower experience.
·Dog-friendly patio. Water bowls out. Service dogs welcome inside.
·Wi-Fi: Free for guests. Power outlets along all interior walls.
·Cash + cards. We take both. Apple Pay works.
